Genesis Series At A Kindergarten In Canada

Mindy Klein, a preschool teacher of 3-4 year olds at Netivot Hatorah Day School in Toronto, Canada spent numerous hours on the Internet researching Israeli artists and was instantly struck by the Genesis Series paintings of Israeli artist Dick Ben Dor, depicting the seven days of creation on star of David frames. She brought samples of a few selected artists for the children and they unanimously chose to focus on the artwork of Dick Ben Dor. The children were very enthusiastic about their creations influenced by Dick Ben Dor’s series and eventually there was an exhibition of these works on Yom Yerushalayim. Antique Tray

Star of David in the center of a tray surrounded by the verse from Psalms "If I Forget Thee, O Jerusalem". Jerusalem and the Star of David both represent the unity of the Jewish people and from this aspect are synonyms.

Star of the Knesset (Israeli parliament)

Yaakov Agam Sculpture bearing many Stars of David, which I photographed yesterday with the Knesset building in the background on 10 Diskin Street in Jerusalem. The proximity of the Knesset building to the statue from this point of view is due to the fact that the large valley between this two spots is hidden.

The Butterfly That Cannot Fly

Artist Sabina Saad sent this painting to The Butterfly Project of the Holocaust Museum in Houston. The idea behind this project was to remember 1.5 million that perished during the Holocaust. Sabina added to her work a caption saying:

My butterfly is gray; it is not colorful like all the butterflies, because it is sad like the children that perished during the Holocaust. The only point of color is the yellow patch that instead of happiness adds sadness. Its life is short like all the butterflies’ and of the children that died in the holocaust. It does not fly and it looks like those butterflies that people collect and guard in frames.

It seems that the producer made it BEFORE Uri Ofir came out with his theory about the origin of the Jewish six-pointed star from the Tabernacle Menorah candleholder.

Pay attention to the shape of the upper shadow.

Beer Hexagram

Photo of an old house with a beer hexagram is courtesy of artist Amos Plaut who took it in Furth near Nurenberg, Germany. The house was used as an inn. In Germany the hexagram had been and still is a symbol of beer.
