Salvation Shequel Stamp

Dr.Hayim Grosman lectured On 5 April Yavne symposium about the “Star of David and Theodore Herzl: two symbols in one price .”
Dr. Hayim Grosman claimed that Herzl became a symbol and his icon was used with his full cooperation in order to promote the Zionist cause. The Star of David was used for the same purpose. Each symbol was enough to achieve the above mentioned target and when they appeared together it was like "two symbols in one price".
This was one of the photos Dr. Hayim Grosman screened there: the Salvation Shequel Stamp. It was issued towards the 5th Zionist congress and it was used as a receipt that was given to donors. It was re issued on 1980 by the JNF.
BTW, another stamp by the JNF from 1940 with these two symbols together shows the famous E.M Lilien photo of Herzl leaning on the balcony in Bazel Hotel while a Star of David appears in the center of the caption.

Dror Auslander , Ariel Sharon

Dror Auslander painted Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as an auto portrait and even signed in his name. Dror Auslander told me that the white arrows on the blue stripes of the Israeli flag were inspired by Israeli rock singer Dani Dotan from The Klick band, who told him that the Israeli main stream political trend became right winged while the right wing parties became more leftish. Ariel Sharon always belonged to the right, but his policy as a Prime Minister became more and more leftish.This is the last Star of David painting by Dror Auslander I publish here.

Dror Auslander, Philippine House-Maid

Artist Dror Auslander drew the Philippine House-Maid of his grandma inside a blue Magen David collar which is wrapped very tight around her neck. Dror Auslander, Made in China

Artist Dror Auslander points in this painting (1.20 x 1.00 meter) at the modern essence of Israel as a satisfied consumers' society.
Inside the Magen David there's a Torah curtain and arround it there are price tags, logos, and trade stickers. What happened to us when we replaced our ideology with money? One thing is for sure- we became ugly!

Mitzna Calls Up Herzl

Artist Dror Auslander painted Reserve General Amram Mitzna (on the left of the red & blue Star of David) calling up Herzl on the phone. There's a newer version of this painting where Herzl is holding a mobile phone and answers him....
At the time of the painting General Amram Mitzna was sent to be the mayor of a small town in the Negev called Yerucham. Dror Auslander felt that Mitzna was not enthusiastic to get this job, and his reaction seemed to him fitting to the possible reaction of Herzl, if he could have seen what is going on in Israel nowadays. The fact that both leaders look similar only helped raise the question about the gap between Herzl's vision and its fulfillment.

Crown of Peace

Magen David on an original paper cut made by Zipora Ne'eman he Hebrew letters in the middle are SHALOM = peace. The hands represent the priestly blessing (Birkat Kohanim).
